No official ordered firing in Haveri: Srikumar
Hubli, Karnataka, Jun 12 (UNI) No official order had been issued to open fire on the agitating farmers in Haveri Town on Tuesday in which one farmer was killed and several others injured, DGP and Inspector General of Police R Srikumar said here today.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said a departmental enquiry was on to find out the truth behind the firing incident.
Stating that stern action would be initiated against the policemen responsible for opening fire, he said a thorough investigation was being conducted into the whole incident.
''No senior official had ordered the firing on that fateful day,'' he stressed.
The DGP was also appointed as the Special Officer (Law and Order) to monitor the farmers agitation on fertiliser shortage.
Earlier, he visited KIMS where those injured in the firing were being treated.
