Militant arrested in Handwara

Srinagar, June 12 : In a joint operation Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Thursday arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen militant from Handwara District's Taharthpora area.

The Handwara police had received a tip-off regarding the presence of militants in the orchids of Sheikh Mohalla, Tarathpora, Vilgam.

Accordingly, Handwara police launched a joint operation with the 125 Battalion of CRPF. They cordoned the area and after following meticulous security drill, operation party succeeded in arresting a militant named Ghulam Nabi Sheikh.

Police also recovered one Chinese Pistol, one pistol magazine and four pistol rounds.

Sheikh was assisting other militant outfits in Ramhal area by guiding them and providing logistics.
