MCD to develop Mahila Hatt on lines of Delhi Haat

New Delhi, Jun 12 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi plans to develop a Mahila Haat, on lines of Delhi Haat, on terrace of the multilevel underground car parking at Asaf Ali Road, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra said today.

Talking to reporters here, Ms Mehra said the proposed Mahila Hatt, to be developed on approximately 6000 sq m of terrace area, would exhibit all the stalls and sale materials relating to ladies such as household items ornaments, furnishings, kitchen products and fabrics etc.

She said a gathering space is proposed for 500 persons. It will have an open seating (amphitheatre) for 150 to 200 persons to watch the activities performed by artists from different States of India and activities related to ladies. The forum will be used for creating civic awareness and cultural interests. Two bandstands have also been proposed in the green area for playing live music and live performances.

It is proposed to have buffer around the light well meant for underground parking areas by soft landscape materials and provision of water sheet buffer.

The Mayor informed that high quality street furniture have been proposed to integrate all the proposed activities and due care has been taken to provide barrier-free environment for physically challenged persons / aged.

In addition to the above items, security and safety measures have also been considered while designing the overall layout. The education / information oriented display related to civic amenities have been proposed to dissipate awareness among citizens.
