IIP recovers in April at 7%
New Delhi, Jun 12 (UNI) Industrial production rebounded in April to seven per cent from a six-year low of three per cent in March, driven by a strong performance of mining and manufacturing sector.
According to the the data released by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO), industrial production has dipped compared to 11.3 per cent during April 2007.
The manufacturing production rose 7.5 per cent in April as against 2.9 per cent in March this year, and 12.4 per cent in April 2007.
The government has revised March growth to 3.9 per cent from a preliminary estimate of three per cent.
Mining sector growth improved to 8.6 per cent in April from 4.9 per cent registered in March, and 2.6 per cent in April last year.
Electricity sector growth in April was a dismal 1.4 per cent as against 3.7 per cent in March and 8.7 per cent in April 2007.
