Court issues summons to Chhagan Bhujbal
Mumbai, Jun 12 (UNI) A special Prevention of Terrorist Act (POTA) court today issued summons to former Maharashtra home minister and present Public Works Department Minister Chhagan Bhujbal to appear before the court as defence witness on June 19, to record his statement in the twin bomb blasts case.
POTA court Judge M R Puranik issued summons to Mr Bhujbal as the defence advocate wanted to examine him in connection with a press conference regarding the twin bomb blasts in the metropolis.
The blasts occurred on August 25, 2003 at Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar areas of the city. In the blasts, more than 50 people were killed and several others injured.
The defence have also given the list of media, which had covered the press conference organised by Mr Bhujbal as the then home minister.
Defence has also requested the court to direct the PWD minister to bring press note, which was circulated at the time of the press conference.
