Bush fire in Shankeracharya hills in Srinagar

Srinagar Jun 12 (UNI) Panic gripped the Dal Lake area when tourists staying in house boats and local residents noticed fire in the Shankeracharya hills' bushes here last evening, official sources said.

They raised an alarm and informed police and fire brigade headquarters.

A spokesman of the fire headquarter said two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the area and the fire was brought under control near Nehru Park on the Boulevard side.

Some damage was caused to the plantation, he said, adding that the cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Police has registered a case and started investigation, sources said.
