BJP hopeful of a solution to Gujjar demand
New Delhi, Jun 12 (UNI) The BJP today expressed hope that a solution for the Gujjar crisis may be found out in the next couple of days with a 22-member team headed by Gujjar Mahasabha leader Kirori Singh Bainsla leaving for Jaipur for talks with the Rajasthan government.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the party had information that Col. Bainsla and his team members had left Bayana, the epicentre of Gujjar agitation to attend talks and a way out could be expected in the next few days.
As far as Rajasthan government was concerned, it would have an 'open mind' towards the Gujjar demand to bring them under Scheduled Tribe list.
While the Gujjars were not willing to climb down on their demand, the problem for the state government was that it could not recommend to the Centre their inclusion as Gujjars cannot be classified as ST in the prescribed format.
