8 members of 2 families killed in mishap

Nagpur, Jun 12: Eight people, including two women and three girls, were killed and three others sustained injuries today after the jeep in which they were travelling, collided with a truck in Akola district of Vidarbha region.

All the eight were killed on the spot when the jeep slammed into the oncoming truck, early this morning at Kharbadi village, around 55 km away from Akola.

The three injured have been admitted to a hospital in Akola, police said. The jeep was carrying 11 people -- members of Shende and Ingle families and the driver. They were on their way back home to Nagpur, after a visit to various parts of the state, when the accident occurred, police added.

The deceased were identified as Veena Govind Shende (50), Govind Shende (56), Nalini M Ingle, Hanumant Ingle, Soni Ingle (18), Rohini Ingle (16), Ashwini Ingle, and jeep-driver Ravi, police said.
