Vehicular traffic disrupted by agitating farmers
Mandya, Jun 11 (UNI) Vehicular traffic on busy Mysore-Bangalore road was thrown out of gear for some time as agitating farmers staged a rasta roko at three places in the district condemning the police firing in Haveri yesterday in which one farmer was killed.
About 300 farmers blocked the traffic by nearly two hours at Gejjlagere in Maddur taluk, the agitation was led by Sunanda Jayaram, President of women's wing of KRRS.
The agitators demanding immediate inquiry into the police firing and alleged that the BJP government had failed to solve the problems faced by farmers.
Meanwhile, activists of Karnataka Rakshna Vedike staged a rasta roko in Maddur taluk.
They also burnt an effigy of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
