T'palli Dist gets Rs 4.21 cr under NHM
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 11 (UNI) Tiruchirapalli District has been sanctioned Rs 4.21 crore under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM) to be implemented by the Horticulture department during 2008-09, District Collector T Soundiah said today.
In a release here, he said the main components of the scheme would be to grow mango banana, cocoa, cashew and tamarind trees in new areas, expanding the area under chilli cultivation, flowers and medicinal plants, maintenance of cultivated areas and creation of new water sources like farm ponds.
The farmers of the district could enrol their names with the officials concerned and avail subsidy up to 50 per cent, he added.
