TN Govt seeks additional wheat
Chennai, June 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today urged the Centre to allot an additional 10,000 tonnes of wheat to the State for supply through the Public Distribution System (PDS).
On the directive of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, State Food Minister E V Velu called on Union Food Minister Sharad Pawar in New Delhi and made the plea, an official release here said.
Accompanied by Union IT and Communications Minister A Raja, Mr Velu requested Mr Pawar to allot additional quantity of wheat, stating that it was liked by the people of the State, it said.
Mr Pawar assured him that he would consider the plea and take necessary steps immediately, the release said.
