TDP politburo calls for restraint on Telangana
Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, June 11 (UNI) Viewing with concern party members expressing divergent views on the Telangana issue, sending wrong signals to the public, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) politburo today called for restraint on the part of the members till the party's special committee submits its report.
''It is a sensitive issue and requires wider debate in all the regions, before taking a decision. The party members were requested to exercise restraint and refrain from voicing their views,'' TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu told newspersons while briefing about the politburo deliberations at Thimmapuram village, near here.
However, he was evasive on initiating action against senior TDP leader Thalasani Srinivias, MLA, for coming down heavily on TDP Vice-President Devender Goud on the issue.
Mr Naidu reiterated his slogan that he was not against Telangana and its development and claimed that a lot of development had been achieved in the region during the previous TDP regime.
The people of Telangana have positively responded to the TDP in the recent byelections, keeping trust on its commitment and sincerity, he added.
Launching a scathing attack on the TRS and the Congress for ''cheating'' the people of Telangana with false promises, the TDP chief said the party on the contrary had kept up its promises and developed the region on all fronts, more so in irrigation.
