Tata Agrico ties up with BP solar to reach rural hinterland

Patna, June 11 (UNI) Tata Agrico, a division of Tata steel, today inked an agreement with Tata-British Petroleum (BP) for distribution of several innovative solar-powered products.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Operation Officer (COO), Bihar circle, Tata Agrico, Sarvesh Kumar said, ''In order to fulfill the aspirations of rural consumers who are deprived of regular electricity supplies because of poor infrastructure in our country, Tata Agrico has entered into an agreement with Tata-BP to promote solar products such as solar lanterns, streetlights and water heating systems.'' He maintained that both the companies would primarily focus on the promotion of these products in Bihar as the rural and semi-urban markets of the state had huge potential.

''It will be followed by a nationwide roll-out,'' he added.

The comany registered a total turnover of Rs 910.06 crore during the last fiscal with the estimated turnover of Rs 12 crore in Bihar, he informed, adding that Rs 19-20 crore had been targetted for the current fiscal in Bihar.
