R S Jassal appointed Ambassador to Turkey
New Delhi, Jun 11 (UNI) Mr R S Jassal, presently Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington, has been appointed Ambassador to Turkey, the External Affairs Ministry announced here today.
He will succeed Ms Chitra Narayanan who has been made Ambassador to Switzerland.
Mr Jassal, who has been Joint Secretary in the External Publicity Division of the Ministry, was also India's envoy in Israel before he went to Washington.
Popular with the media, Mr Jassal was the interface between the government and the media at the height of the Kargil conflict.
