On the occasion, the Prime Minister hailed Mr Pilot as the person who revolutionised the communication scenario in the country.
Mr Pilot had been Minister of State for Communication with Independent charge in 1991. He died in a road accident in 2000.
Communication Minister A Raja, fondly remembering the work done by his predecessor, said that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is deeply indebted to Mr Pilot as the telecom revolution, which was taking place in India would not have been possible without the far reaching changes he had initiated in his time.
