Multi-pronged strategy formulated for disaster management
Shillong,Jun 11 (UNI) A multi-pronged strategy prioritizing various initiatives to prepare Meghalaya to face future disasters was formulated at the two-day workshop on disaster preparedness here.
The workshop was inagurated by Chief Minister Donkupar Roy yesterday. It was organised in collaboration with North East Council (NEC), state government and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Mr Roy requested the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to train the state armed police battalions in a phased manner to meet any eventuality.
He also suggested that two companies of the NDRF battalion be posted here.
The deliberations of the workshop were led by P P Shirvastav, member NEC, Mr K M Singh, member NDMA, among others.
Officers from the Army, police and experts from Geological Survey of India participated.
