Maya warns police to pull up socks or face music
Lucknow, Jun 11 (UNI) Coming down heavily on police officials over the laxity committed in nailing hardcore criminals in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati directed the officials to mend their ways or face the music.
Addressing a meeting of senior police officials here over the law and order situation in the state, the UP CM said the law and order maintenance reports of many districts were ''unsatisfactory.'' She ordered the officials to pull up their socks and improve the situation by the next meeting. Stringent action would be taken for any laxity, she added.
Prima-facia reports should be registered and serious matters not discarded as nominal and prompt action should be taken in every case, the CM said.
''It is only lax and wrong behaviour that spreads ''dissatisfaction'' among the public,'' she maintained saying ''human angle'' should also be considered while investigating a case.
She further asked the senior policemen to spot the mole in the department as they aid the criminals, which detoriates police image in public.
The CM also asked the IG and DIG to stay at their office round-the-clock and mend their working ways.
