Bangalore, Jun 11: Karnataka Minister for religious endowments S N Krishnaiah Shetty has issued a circular instructing the priests of about 36000 temples and places of worship to conduct daily pooja in the name of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa (BSY). This circular is to invoke the blessings of almighty for the health, wealth and welfare of BJP stalwart in Karnataka.
The minister, Krishnaiah Shetty is a legislator from Malur in Kolar district. He is a staunch worker of BJP and great admirer of BSY. He is a first time minister in the newly formed Yeddyurappa ministry of 29 members. This circular had raised many a eyebrows. Congress and JD(S), the opposition parties in Karnataka is raising hue and cry about the misuse of official powers for any individual's welfare and success.
The Congress urged the Endowment Department to immediately withdraw this 'anti-secular' circular. V S Ugrappa, the spokesman for Congress told OneIndia, the party will oppose minister's move till it is withdrawn. He added that it is shame on democracy and secular values which India upholds.
