Jain delegations meet CM, thank her for minority status

New Delhi, Jun 11 (UNI) Several delagations from the Jain community today called on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at her residence and expressed their gratidude for granting minority status to the community.

The Delhi Cabinet presided over by Ms Dikshit yesterday granted minority status to the Jain community.

Expressing gratitude towards Ms Dikshit, the delegations held the move as the right decision.

A number of eminent Jain personalities, led by MLA Rajesh Jain, felicitated Ms Dikshit. Office-bearers of various Jain organisations presented bouquets to the Chief Minister. Acharya Manmal Ji, Dr.

Lokesh Ji and other Jain Munis, who were present in the National Integration Committee delegation, said the Jain community would now be able to manage their educational institutions as per guidelines prescribed for the minority institutions.

On her part, Ms Dikshit said the Jain community is a peace-loving grouping and has been contributing substantially in development of the nation.

''The community has disseminated the message of non-violence and has also propagated the message of 'Live and Let Live',''she said.
