Infiltration bid foiled, soldier injured in J and K

Srinagar, Jun 11 (UNI) Troops foiled an infiltration bid when they challenged a group of militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector in the wee hours today.

A soldier was injured in the encounter, a police spokesman said, adding the operation against the infiltrators was going on when the reports last came in.

He said troops guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking in this side from across the border in Keran sector under the cover of darkness When challenged and asked to surrender, the militants opened fire triggering an encounter in which the soldier was injured.

He said the operation is still in progress.
