GPCC yet to decide on candidate for Pale

Panaji, Jun 11 (UNI) Goa Pradesh Congress Committee(GPCC) is likely to decide on the candidate for Pale assembly constituency next month, following the vacancy caused by the recent death of incumbent legislator Gurudas Gawas.

Interacting with mediapersons in presence of former Union Minister Ramnivas Mirdha here today, GPCC President Francisco Sardiha M P censured the BJP for submitting a memorandum to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, seeking recall of Goa Governor S C Jamir.

He said BJP opposition leader Manohar Parrikar spared no time in destabilising the Congress-led coalition government in Goa.

On increasing the number of assembly constituencies in smaller states like Goa as favoured by Mr Mirdha, he said, it may polarise the electorate further on cast and communal lines during elections vitiating the atmosphere.

The proposal, however, needs a national debate, he added.
