Girl succumbs to dog bite

Madurai, Jun 11 (UNI) An eleven-year-old girl, bitten by a stray dog, died after battling for life for 15 days at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here today.

Hospital sources said the girl R Kavitha, a VI standard student hailing from Ilayankudi village in Sivaganga district, was bitten by a stray dog a fortnight ago.

She was treated at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) and later referred to the Government Hospital at Sivaganga. As her condition deteriorated two days ago, the girl was admitted to a special cell in the GRH.

Despite intensive medical treatment, she died.
