Gallows to man for raping minor
Coimbatore, June 11 (UNI) A local court today convicted and sentenced a 34-year-old man to capital punishment in a case relating to the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl at Cooliepalayam in the district on March 21, 2007.
After hearing the case, Coimbatore Women's Court Judge Dakshinamurthy awarded death for murder, life imprisonment for rape, another life imprisonment for kidnap, besides imposing a fine of Rs 3,000 on Senthilkumar.
According to the prosecution, Senthilkumar, residing at Cooliepalayam, had kidnapped his neighbour Ayyasamy's daughter, studying in eighth standard, to a nearby forest, raped and murdered her.
