Haryana: DCs can deal with affidavits executed abroad

Chandigarh, Jun 11: The Haryana Government today clarified that the instruments of power of attorney and affidavits executed and aurthenticated abroad can be got duly stamped from the District Collector concerned.

An offficial spokesman here stated that the concerned persons need not visit the office of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department at the state heaquarters for this purpose.

He said that this clarification had been necessitated because such instruments were being forwarded by Treasury Officers of the State to the office of the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, here for stamping after charging due amount of stamp duty at the district treasury. This caused great inconvenience to the public.

The stamping could be done by the District Collector as has been provided in sections 18 and 41 of the Indian Stamp Act 1899.

He said that instruction in this regard have been issued to all Deputy Commissioners in the state.
