Bomb assembling devices found in train in Punjab

Bathinda, Jun 11: A possible attempt by terrorists to detonate a bomb in a bogey of the 33N Bikaner-Abohar train was aborted following detection of a timer, wires and a battery when the train arrived at Malout railway station in the wee hours today.

Confirming the recovery, Railway Police sources mainatined that no explosive material or detonator was recovered. The recovery was made from the bogey attached to the train engine. The timer and battery were connected with the wires.

Railway officials immediately detached the bogey and after adjusting the passengers in other compartments, allowed the train to proceed. A bomb diffusion squad of the Punjab Police was summoned from Jalandhar which took the recovered items into custody.

The Railway Police has registered a case. However, no arrests have been made though some passengers of the bogey from where the items were recovered, were questioned.
