Violence hit Dharwad remain peaceful
Dharwad, Karnataka, June 10 (UNI) Violence hit twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad remained peaceful today with no fresh incidents reported from any part of the city.
Agitating farmers burnt three buses and the vehicle of DCP in Dharwad yesterday and damaged about 20 road transport corporation buses protesting against inadequate supply of chemical fertilisers in the district.
Police had resorted to bursting of teargas shells after lathi charge to disburse the rampaging farmers proved futile.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 CRPC had been clamped for three days from this morning as a precautionary measure. In all 34 people had been arrested in connection with the violent incidents.
About 35 people, including three police officers and ten constables had been injured in the violent incidences that erupted yesterday afternoon with agitating farmers turning violent after a fertiliser dealer demanded more price.
