VHR asks Congressmen to be wary of TDP
Hyderabad, Jun 10 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and MP V Hanumantha Rao today urged Congressmen to be cautious of the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which was closely behind the party in the recent byelections.
Participating in the extended APCC meeting, he said ''our enemy (TDP) is closely behind us. We should not be complacent.'' Opining that the partymen had not been given adequate recognition by the party, he wanted the high command to ensure that vacant posts of Presidents of various Corporations be filled up as soon as possible.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, when he was the AICC General Secretary incharge of Andhra Pradesh, had promised on the eve of the 2004 elections to fill up the posts, but the promise had not yet been fulfilled, Mr Rao claimed.
With hardly ten months left for the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, he said the partymen should propagate the achievements of the UPA Government at the Centre and the Congress Government in the State.
Some State Ministers were trying to damage the interests of the Party by posing a political challenge to the Left partie agitating against price rise. He reminded them that the Congress-led UPA Government was continuing at the Centre with crucial outside support extended by the Left parties.
