TRS secured majority votes in bypoll: party chief
Hyderabad, Jun 10 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today claimed that the TRS got 35 per cent votes in the just-concluded byelection, in which the party won seven MLA seats out of 17, it contested, and two MP seats out of four.
Participating in 'Medhomadhanam' with intellectuals at the party head office Telangana Bhavan, Mr Rao said ''the ruling Congress secured 29 per cent votes, while the Opposition TDP got 25 per cent votes in the bypoll.'' Admitting that the TRS had not won majority seats even after it got majority votes, he said the Telangana movement would be strengthened with the participation of youth and intellectuals.
Party ideologue Jayashankar said the TRS would prepare a strategy in consultation with all sections of the society to strengthen the Telangana movement.
