Touts apprehended, raids on unauthorised travel agencies
New Delhi, Jun 10 (UNI) Seventeen touts were apprehended and several passengers travelling on transferred tickets detected during raids and surprise checks by officials of the Northern Railways last month.
The anti-fraud team of Northern Railway's Hd.Qrs.Office conducted several checks and raids last month. During the raid at a travel agency viz. Manoj Tours and Travels at Aggarwal Centre Plaza in Rohini, 5 journey-cum-reservation and 63 cancelled tickets were seized and the owner of the agency handed over to the RPF for prosecution under Section 143 of the Railway Act, a Northern Railway spokesperson said.
Twenty-one cases of passengers travelling on transferred tickets were detected during the checks in the trains and railway dues were realized from them.
Seventeen touts were apprehended at various reaservation and parcel offices viz. Karkardooma, Ghaziabad, New Delhi Current Counter, Haridwar, Delhi Jn., Hzrat Nizamuddin and IRCA/ New Delhi.
They were handed over to RPF for further prosecution under Section 143/144 of the Railway Act, the spokesperson said.
