TNBA chief files anticipatory bail petition
Chennai, June 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Basketball Association President and retired IAS officer A N Dyaneswaran, his son Sendureswaran and another person have moved Madras High Court, seeking anticipatory bail, fearing arrest in connection with an assault case.
Mr Dyaneswaran and others apprehended arrest after the city police registered a complaint by one Mr Selvaraj, expelled office bearer of the Association, that he was assulted by them when he went to the office.
When the bail plea came up for hearing befor Mr Justice R Regupathy, the Government Pleader sought time to get details of the case, after which the judge posted the case for hearing tomorrow.
The judge directed the Government Pleader to reply to the court about the Government's stand in this case.
The Association had earlier filed a civil suit, seeking a direction to restrain the expelled office bearers from using the official name of the Association and its emblem.
Justice M Sathyaranarayana, during the Vacation court, in an interim order, had restrained the expelled members from using the official name of the Association and its emblem. Later, the expelled member filed a stay vacation petition.
When the suit and vacation petition came up for hearing today, Justice V Ramasubramanian posted further hearing in this case to June 17.
