TN Govt to nominate official to review security for Jaya

Chennai, Jun 10 (UNI) Asserting that the Madras High Court had not passed any orders on enhancement of security to former Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa, the Tamil Nadu Government today said an official would be nominated to review the security arrangements being given to her as per the Court directives.

An official release here said the court in its orders had asked the state Government to appoint an officer, not below the rank of Superintendent of Police, to review the security arrangements being provided to her and submit a report on provision of enhanced security as demanded by her.

''Based on the Court directives, the government will appoint an officer to review the security arrangements of Ms Jayalalithaa, who is under Z Plus security category. The government will act accordingly,'' the release added.

Pointing out Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's reply made on the floor of the state Assembly on May 12 in this regard, the release said the Court had observed that it did not accept the charges levelled against the Chief Minister by Ms Jayalalithaa in her petition seeking enhanced security.
