Stranded fishermen rescued
Puducherry, Jun 10 (UNI) Four fishermen of Veerampatinam village, who were stranded in mid-sea yesterday following a technical snag in their mechanised boat, were rescued by the Coast Guard personnel today.
According to Coast Guard sources, the fishermen, including Senthil, Kannan and Ravi, ventured into the sea early yesterday and were stranded in mid-sea. They informed the boat owner about the situation through their cell phone, following which the owner, along with a few other fishermen, went in search of them.
However, they returned to the shore after having failed to trace the fishermen.
Later, based on the information from the boat owner, the Coast Guard pressed into service a helicopter and rescue vessel. The personnel in the helicopter traced the fishermen and the vessel towed the boat to the shore. All the fishermen were safe, the sources added.
