Southwest monsoon active in Kodagu Dist of K'taka
Madikeri, Karnataka, Jun 10 (UNI) The Southwest monsoon has become active in Kodagu, water source of the river Cauvery.
Official sources said Kodagu district recorded an average 373.34 mm rainfall from January to June 9 this year, against 185.52 mm rain received during the same period last year.
Rainfall recorded in Madikeri so far was 502.42 mm, Virajpet 349.5 mm and Somwarpet 268.10 mm, sources added.
Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan, addressing the Ahaar adalat meeting here yesterday, instructed the Food and Civil Supplies department to stock adequate food items and distribute kerosene to the people in the areas prone to floods.
He said Bhagamandala, Nellyahudikeri, Guhya, Dubare, Karadigodu, Lakshmana Teerta and few other places were prone to floods.
