Police officer arrested in attempt to rape case

Darbhanga, Jun 10 (UNI) A police officer was nabbed by local villagers while allegedly attempting to rape a woman at Muria village under Sadar police station area in the district.

Police said here today that Anil Kumar Singh, a police personnel posted at Bhalpatti police station, forcibly entered the house of a woman in the village last night and allegedly attempted to rape her.

On hearing her cries, the villagers rushed to the spot and caught the policeman.

The villagers later beat him up and locked him in a room.

He was taken into custody by the police this morning, the sources added.
