NCC cadets joining Defence services count increase: Chowdhary
Mumbai, Jun 10 (UNI) NCC cadets joining the Defence services are increasing day-by-day with a large number of cadets recruited in the Defence services.
Maharashtra NCC Director General Lt Gen Parkash Chowdhary on occasion of Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus diving camp organised by the Maharashtra NCC, without mentioning the exact number of cadets who were recruited, said over 30 lakh students had joined the NCC across the country.
He said over a period of time the NCC had continued to increase in size and status and at present 94,748 college and school students had joined it.
While talking about the camp, he said aim of the camp was to indicate a spirit of adventure among the cadets through snorkeling and underwater diving.
The camp aims to built up a cadre of good swimmers among the youth of the state, who could voluntarily render their services for life saving during flood operations or in the event of any other such contingencies that may occur in the state.
