Mayawati govt goes for another Ministry expansion

Lucknow, Jun 10 (UNI) The 13-month-old Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh would go for another minor expansion of her Ministry tomorrow.

This would be the seventh expansion of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in the state, which came to power on May 13, 2007.

Official sources confirmed the cabinet expansion tomorrow afternoon with a simple ceremony at the Rajbhawan.

According to sources, the BSP government is set to bring in a Nishad community Minister in the expansion after Jamuna Nishad was sacked by the Chief Minister on June 8 in connection with the killing of a police constable at Maharajganj Kotwali on June 7.

The sacked Minister was also arrested today by the police in the murder charges.

The last cabinet expansion of the government occurred on May 1 when two new ministers, Rajpal Tyagi and Subhash Pandey were inducted and two others, Fateh Bahadur Singh and Ramhet Bharati were promoted from Minister of State to Cabinet rank.

Presently the strength of the Mayawati Ministry in the state is 53 with 29 in the rank of Cabinet Ministers.
