Mass recruitment in DTC in next few years: Sheila
New Delhi, Jun 10 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her Government would take care of all interests of the DTC employees.
Adressing a 'Sankalp rally' of DTC employees, Ms Dikshit said the government has always taken care of interests of DTC employees and would continue to do this in all times to come.
''The government has been increasing number of DTC buses and its employees to cater needs of the growing population in Delhi.
Thousands of employees would be recruited in next few years and there would be no shortage of drivers. In addition to this, temporary employees would also be regularised at the earliest,''the Chief Minister said.
Addressing the rally, attended by Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf, Member of Parliament Sandeep Dikshit, Chairman, Transport Employees Federation and Member of Parliament G Sanjivaya Reddy and DTC Employees Union President R N Vats, Ms Dikshit said the process of improvement in DTC is now on.
''Green low-floor buses are reflecting the image of a modern public transport system. This largest CNG operated Public Transport System would also become the best.
It is expected that large number of tourists and sports lovers would travel by DTC buses during the Commonwealth Games. This makes our challenge more exciting,''she said.
The Chief Minister said Delhi is the only city among other Metro cities in this country where air-conditioned city service has been introduced with a reasonable fare.
''The government has been giving facelift to all bus stops in Delhi, which have become modern and attractive. The bus stops are comfortable and long lasting,''she said.
