List of farmers eligible for debt relief to be ready by Jun15

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 10 (UNI) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) MD, K G Karmakar today asked the bankers in the state to prepare the complete list of eligible farmers to include them in the agricultural debt waiver and debt relief scheme-2008 by June 15.

After reviewing the status of progresss in the implementation of the scheme with state Cooperation Minister G Sudhakaran, Dr Karmakar said the list of eligible farmers should be displayed on the notice boards of banks and societies by June 20.

He cautioned the bankers to have accurate data of the eligible farmers and also to have two-levels of checking with the help of auditors of the Cooperation Department.

Correct debt assessment and data submission, writing off actual eligible amounts and issue of fresh loans to the farmers would be the three major steps for the successful imlementation of the scheme, he added.

NABARD Kerala Regional Chief General Manager, Bhawar Puri reiterated the resolution that all the activities under this scheme would be completed in true spirit within the stipulated time frame.
