Assam Pradesh Youth Congress gets new chief
Guwahati, June 10 (UNI) Pijush Hazarika was today appointed president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC).
He succeeded Rekibuddin Ahmed, who has been made the West Bengal and Jharkhand coordinator in Rahul Gandhi's schemes for the 'aam aadmi'.
Hazarika was among the two short listed candidates by Rahul Gandhi when the latter visited the state last month.
Hailing from Nagaon district in central Assam, Hazarika was also a contender for the Congress ticket from Jagiroad constituency in the 2006 Assembly polls.
