8 undertrails escape from Halol Sub Jail

Godhra, Jun 10 (UNI) Eight undertrails escaped from Halol Sub Jail near here today.

The accused were arrested for petty crimes like burglary and theft a month ago by Dahod police and lodged in Halol Sub Jail.

There were ten undertrials in the barrack, of which, eight broke opened railing of the barrack at around 0530 hrs and carved out a big hole in the wall surrounding the prison to abscond.

Jail guards raised an alarm, but the offenders had already made their way out of Jail area. Top officials including District Superintendent of Police Mothalia rushed to Jail and filed a inquiry.

Police have sealed the Vadora-Halol border and a dog squad has been pressed into service to nab the criminals.

Those who abscond are Prakash Patel, Shahbaj Sheikh, Subhash Marathe, Prakash Chauhan, Jitesh Gandhi, Samir Keskar and Deepak Nikam. They all belonged to Vadodara city.
