Panchkula, Jun 9 (UNI) A woman, alleging police inaction and harrassment regarding her complaint of rape against some policemen, today committed suicide after consuming poison inside headquarters of Haryana Director General of Police here.

ADGP (Law and Order) V B Singh told UNI that the agitated woman, identified as Sarita, 26, wife of Rohtak resident Subhash, reached the DGP's office along with her two young sons and declared that in protest against the police inaction and harrassment, she had consumed celphos tablets.

The police personnel present at the time, rushed her to a nearby government general hospital. She was referred to PGI, Chandigarh due to her serious condition, where she died after some time, hospital sources said.

Mr Singh said before being taken to hospital, the woman handed over a complaint in which she had alleged that no action had been taken against CIA Staff, Rohtak head constable H C Balraj and Sipahi Tilak Raj who had allegedly raped her on April 10 after calling her to police station in connection with her husband's arrest in a theft case.

Her complaint on the matter was registered only on May 31 after she approached the ADGP law and order on May 29 and now she was being forced by the Rohtak police to compromise and withdraw the matter, Sarita had complained.

Her body would be handed over to her family after the post mortem, police said.

Mr Singh said stern action would be taken against those found guilty in this case.
