Train services disrupted in Bastar
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, June 9(UNI) Train services on Bailadila-Vishakhapatnam section were disrupted following derailment of two locos of a goods train early this morning between Bacheli and Bhansi stations in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region.
Police said the derailment was caused as Maoist naxalites removed fish plates of the track. The accident site was about 70 Km from here.
The rail section is mainly used for transporting iron ore from Bastar to Vishakhapatnam port for its export to Japan and other countries. A passenger train is also operated daily between Jagdalpur and Vishakhapatnam.
Entire Bastar region plunged into darkness with the snapping of electricity supply after the transmission towers were blasted off by naxalites a week ago. Drinking water supply also remained disrupted in many towns, official sources said.
