TN Govt signs MoU with Moser Baer
Chennai, June 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Moser Baer, manufacturer of optical storage devices, for setting up a greenfield facility at Oragadam in SIPCOT SEZ with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore.
The MoU was signed by Industries Secretary M F Farooqui and Moser Baer India Managing Director Deepak Puri in the presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Union Communications Minister A Raja at the state Secretariat here.
The new facility would produce silicon-based photo voltaic panels and other nano devices with multiple applications in media and entertainment industry.
The new plant would provide direct and indirect job opportunities to 3,000 people.
With this, Chennai was poised to emerge as a major hub for electronics hardware in the country, as the state Government had already signed a MoU with Signet solar company in March this year for manufacturing wafer-thin photo voltaic cells with a similar investment at SIPCOT complex in Oragadam.
