Report on reservation for handicapped soon
Visakhapatnam, June 9 (UNI) The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry today said it would soon submit a comprehensive report to the Union Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises on the implementation of three per cent reservation for the physically handicapped in the industrial sector.
Addressing newspersons here, Committee Chairman V Hanumantha Rao emphasised the need for implementing the reservation properly, while recruiting in public and private sector units. The Committee had visited Chennai, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam to take stock of the situation with regard to implementation of the reservation, he added.
He said the backlog of vacancies meant for SC, ST and OBCs should be filled up within six months.
Mr Rao warned the bank officials of stern action if they flouted the RBI policy by denying loans to poor students in pursuit of higher education or for setting up small-scale industrial units.
