Pramod Deo takes over as CERC Chairman

New Delhi, Jun 9 (UNI) Former Chairman of Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) Pramod Deo today took charge of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) as its Chairman.

Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Dr Deo, an official statement said.

Before joining MERC in 2002, he has been with the Indian Administrative Service for 30 years and has more than 20 years of experience at both policy and project management levels in the energy sector.

An alumnus of IIT Delhi, Dr Deo has worked in the Ministry of Power, Maharashtra's Department of Energy and international institutions like United Nations Environment Programme and Asian Institute of Technology.

He has also received the World Wind Energy Award 2005 and was conferred with the CII National Award for Distinguished Personality-Energy Management for the year 2006.

He is also the co-author of three books on energy planning, energy management and regulatory practice.
