Police arrest two anti social elements
Kapurthala, June 9 (UNI) The district police arrested two anti social elements who had created a reign of terror in the town with their unlawful activities for the past more than a year.
Talking to mediapersons here today, SSP Rakesh Aggarwal identified the accused as Madan Kumar Chopra and his brother Manoj Kumar Chopra, both loacl residents who were wanted by the police in four criminal cases, including two attempt to murder cases.
Police has recovered one country made pistol and two sharp edged weapons from their possession.
The SSP said the accused used to take money to free disputed property and encroachments. He said the public was not coming forward to complain against them because of their terror and the complainants were forced to compromise with them.
Police said that they were involved in an attack on a IRB commando and was involved in clashes at a local gurdwara, hospital and the bus stand. The SSP said the police would also reopen their previous cases.
