New Madras HC CJ emphasises on protection of human rights

Chennai, Jun 9 (UNI) Newly appointed Madras High Court Chief Justice A K Ganguly today called upon his colleagues to expand the horizons of human rights and interpret law to reach the depths of human dignity so that the citizens are not robbed of the ''sacred personhood'' conferred on them by the Constitution.

Accepting the warm welcome given by the legal fraternity at the High Court here, he said the task and challenge before the judiciary was to hasten this transition of law from 'the sealed book' of a select few to the 'living letter' of teeming millions.

Advocate General G Masilamani, Madras High Court Advocates' Association President R C Paul Kanagaraj, Bar Association President R Krishnamurthi, Bar Council Executive Committee member R Dhanapal Raj were among those who felicitated the Chief Justice.
