MGR kin' case goes to CB-CID

Chennai, Jun 9 (UNI) Police today transferred the case relating to the murder of Vijayan, Former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran's kin, to the CB-CID as the city police could not make any breakthrough.

Director General of Police (DGP) J P Jain announced the transfer of the case to the CB-CID.

Mr Vijayan, husband of Ms Sudha, one of the five adopted daughters of MGR, was beaten to death with iron rods last week while returning home in his car.

A group of unidentified people, who were following him in a car, dashed against his car.

When Mr Vijayan came out of his car to see the impact, the assailants,armed with iron rods, attacked him. He died while being taken to the hospital.

In the last one week, the city police had questioned more than 200 people, including Mr Rajendran, husband of Latha, another adopted daughter of MGR and their son Kumar as Ms Sudha suspected their hand in the murder.

The police also released the sketches of the assailants, believed to be hired criminals, but could not make any breakthrough.
