Maoists disrupt train services in Bastar
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Jun 9 (UNI) Train services on Bailadila-Vishakhapatnam section were disrupted today following derailment of two locos of a goods train between Bacheli and Bhansi stations in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region.
Police said the derailment was caused by Maoist naxalites as they removed fish plates of the track.
The accident site is about 70 Km from here.
The rail section is mainly used for transporting iron ore from Bastar to Vishakhapatnam port, from there it goes to Japan and other countries. A daily passenger train is also operated between Jagdalpur and Vishakhapatnam.
Earlier, a week ago, entire Bastar region plunged into darkness as the transmission towers were blasted off by the naxalites.
Drinking water supply also remained disrupted in many towns, official sources said.
