Manipur mourns death of literary figure
Imphal, June 9 (UNI) The literary societies of Manipur today mourned the death of renowned writer R K Shitoljit, who breathed his last yesterday at his Keishamthong, Imphal residence.
He was 95 and is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti president L Joychandra said a meeting was held in his memory and two-minute silence was observed.
A renowned journalist, Mr Shitoljit had a large numbers of books to his credit.
He worked as Correspondent for the Amrita Bazar Patrika, Statesman and Associated Press of India.
He was the third person to pen a novel in the state and is known as the father of the short story in Manipur.
